One of the most intimate and historic places in Daytona is Jackie Robinson Ballpark. Originally known as the City Island Ball Park, it was built in 1914 and held 4,200 fans. The stadiums name was changed to Jackie Robinson Ballpark in 1990. The reasons for the name change varies but the most popular reason is during the 1946 spring training season, Jacksonville(then the spring training home of the Brooklyn Dodgers) and Sanford refused to host games due to their segregation laws. This led to Jacksonville losing the Dodgers during spring training. The following season the team held spring training in Daytona Beach.

The stadium has previously been the home of the Daytona Beach Islanders for 30 seasons, the Daytona Beach Dodgers from 1968-1973, and the Daytona Beach Astros between 1978 and 1984.  It was the spring training home of the Montreal Expos from 1973-1980. It is currently home to the Chicago Cubs minor league Daytona Cubs. They have played there since 1993 and have won four Florida State League championships, the latest being 2008.  Another championship team playing at the ballpark is the Bethune-Cookman Wildcats, who have won several Mid-Eastern baseball championships.
